Abstract

The concept of preventive management is a relatively recent one. It is a management style or type that aims to help the organization prevent problems instead of waiting for them to occur and then moving to solve them.
Thus, it is the opposite of therapeutic management, which represents the reactive management of problems, while preventive management is the management of proactive intervention (pre-action) that moves before problems occur to prevent or avoid their occurrence.
The current research aimed to clarify the nature of preventive management, on the grounds that achieving knowledge of something paves the way for the processes of understanding and practice or application. Therefore, the researcher shed light on the nature of preventive management, in terms of: definition, degrees, practice and tools.
As an introduction to this, the emergence of the idea of prevention in professions, especially in the medical profession, was briefly explained, since it was the first profession concerned with the issue of prevention. Also, the concept of prevention and therapeutic management were defined.
At the end of the research, a number of recommendations were presented that, if taken advantage of, would contribute to increasing knowledge of preventive management and increasing its practice in our organizations in Egypt and the Arab world due to its importance.
