The (sea) is an essential element in the simile and metaphorical rhetorical formations in Arabic poetry, and the subject of this study is to reveal the image of the sea between two poems of modern poetry that talked about the sea: the first of them is by the Egyptian poet and geographer (Muhammad Awad Muhammad) entitled: (The Sea), and the other For the famous Palestinian poet (Mahmoud Darwish) entitled: (A lodge on the sea).
In Awad's poem (The Sea), the image of the sea appeared as a description of itself, its actions, its conditions, and its relationships with all aspects of the universe, through the creator's artistic mirror of this cosmic aspect.
As for Mahmoud Darwish's poem "He Descends on the Sea", "The Sea" appears to contain a code in which the symbol of diaspora and loss, which depend on the time of vague stay, and the limited waiting time for disembarkation, was combined. It was also a symbol of hope, at times escaping from the narrowness of the land, and at other times asking him for gifts and giving, as we saw him rising to his mission. The old ebb and flow, until it became a symbol of exile, departure and estrangement, and then of the revolution that died, so it became a symbol of death and destruction!! The text was dealt with as a linguistic construct in the first place, but through an approach that cares about the language and what is behind the language.
