Abstract

This paper analyzes the research literature concerned with analyzing the content of social media and the problems and conclusions in this regard, as a number of Arab studies were reviewed and analyzed with regard to the field of research, the determining importance and objectives, and methodology and analysis tool.
A number of problems were extracted, including the existence of an increasing tendency to reproduce topics and ideas that were dealt with in the Mainstream or "traditional" media, and where a number of these studies do not take into account the difference in the environment of the content, its means, and the specificity of its presentation, and a number of these studies did not provide an analysis of the public’s use of the news and how social media platforms grow as a source of information.
There is also an excessive focus on employing the content analysis tool and a reluctance to employ analysis programs with regard to analyzing the most common and frequent vocabulary and analyzing the feelings contained in the audience’s comments.
