Abstract

This paper seeks to explore the role of participatory governance in the context of local administration as an integrated model based on the distribution of roles and the formation of relationships between the main actors and relevant parties and its role in improving the results of sustainable development projects. This is through building a framework that maximizes the benefit of development partners with local governments, such as civil society organizations, the private sector, and international organizations, in a way that allows for their effective participation in sustainable development projects. The study relies on the descriptive and analytical approach to identify the concepts of participatory governance for local administration. The role theory approach will also be used to identify the different roles of the parties and the main actors and maximize their benefit in sustainable development projects and discuss ways to activate mechanisms for their effective participation. The expected results of the proposed participatory governance model indicate a great deal of benefit to the local administration in improving sustainable development projects in the preparation stage and great support in their implementation as well, not to mention achieving the principles of equality, transparency, accountability, responsiveness and effective oversight of those projects.
