Abstract

The study aimed to analyze Arab research on environmental topics, such as pollution and climate change, published between 2014 and 2024. This analytical study employed a meta-analysis methodology, reviewing 100 published and unpublished Arab theses, dissertations and articles accessed through Dar Al-Mandhumah database on the Egyptian Knowledge Bank website.
The quantitative analysis revealed a lack of focus among Arab researchers, especially master's and doctoral students, on exploring the environmental issues. The critical qualitative analysis highlighted the absence of forward-looking studies in this field.
To address these gaps, the study proposed a research agenda that calls on researchers to submit studies that use new approaches to closely study environmental phenomena and their causes, such as big data analysis studies to determine the trends and sentiments of public opinion towards these issues and their issues agendas, to provide effective results in the reality of Arab societies. The call also includes focusing on future studies and creating new ideas for Arab communicators, such as presenting environmental issues within the framework of solutions journalism to motivate Arab citizens to actively participate in protecting the environment in their countries.
