Abstract

Humankind has accumulated a vast array of diverse cultural heritage forms throughout its evolutionary history. With the advent and evolution of media, it has become the official carrier of this heritage, leveraging its capabilities to reach a wide audience not only locally but also globally.
This study aims to explore and compare the employment of digital media innovations in preserving and disseminating Arab cultural heritage in three countries (Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Algeria) through a quantitative and qualitative content analysis of the official pages of the official archaeological bodies in these countries. This analysis is based on a number of variables to verify and test the theoretical framework of augmented reality.
Stemming from a methodological assessment of the significance of preserving historical and cultural assets, social and cultural diversity in urban settlements in the Arab world, as drivers of tourism and economic dimensions to address sustainable development challenges, the findings indicate that smart media technology can enhance more effective dissemination and higher quality utilization of cultural heritage in its tangible and intangible aspects. This can be achieved by creating a larger cultural communication platform, stimulating cultural consumption experiences on a wider scale, and transforming more intangible cultural resources into technological innovations that contribute to the protection and dissemination of Arab cultural heritage.
