The Role of Official Cultural Sites in Documenting Egyptian Heritage

Abstract

Digital websites are one of the visual and interactive media technologies, because of the advantages they employ video, image, and audio technologies, instantaneousness, and speed in publishing and communicating with others. Documenting and preserving heritage are an important matter because these materials represent the memory of individuals and nations, with the cultural values they contain and the fragrance of history. Therefore, our research aims to monitor the role of these sites and their contribution to documenting the Egyptian cultural heritage through broadcasting through their sites, answering the main question: What is the extent of benefit from official digital cultural sites in documenting the Egyptian cultural heritage? Enhancing cultural and heritage awareness and deepening knowledge among Egyptians, and monitoring the efforts made to preserve and protect heritage properties of all kinds, especially tangible cultural properties, both material and intangible (moral), as well as their efforts to build and develop culture and heritage awareness among citizens. The study focused on important models. Among the official sites for documenting Egyptian cultural heritage, such as the Center for Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage at the Library of Alexandria, and the Supreme Council of Antiquities of Egypt, to reveal the effectiveness of these official documentation sites in performing the functional and societal role assigned to Egyptian cultural heritage.
