Secularism in light of Islamic values From the perspective of Dr. Muhammad Al-Bahayy

This paper deals briefly with the life of Professor Dr. Muhammad Al-Bahayy by stopping at important stations in the life of this Islamic thinker. Then, I mentioned the titles of a large number of his valuable books to arrive at his book, entitled: “Islam in Solving the Problems of Contemporary Islamic Societies.” The chapter that appeared in this book and was the main focus of this paper is entitled: “The Problem of Secularism.” Due to the importance of this chapter, the Islamic Research Academy printed it as part of the Islamic Research Series and issued it as an independent book.
I have defined secularism as stated in this book, and Dr. Al-Bahayy described it as a lesion among others that afflict the Islamic world. I, also, introduced Dr. Al-Bahayy’s analyses, in which he explained how secularism appeared in Western societies to replace religion in these countries as a result of historical circumstances specific to these countries, the most important of which is the conflict between religion and science in this environment, which is completely different from the Islamic environment in which such a conflict did not appear between Islam and science. Rather, Islam has encouraged knowledge and science, praised scholars, and placed them in the position they deserve.
Dr. Al-Bahayy explained Islam’s view of secularism which made him address a set of religious values presented in his intellectual production; some of which I mentioned in this study.
