This research analyzes the poetics of religious and national belonging in two poems by Dr. Ahmed Omar Hashem: “To Palestine” (1390 = 1970 AD) and “A Call from the Field” (1393 = 1973 AD).
The study strives to examine the discourse of ideas that the two poems seeks to represent, and to examine the discourse of artistic formation, and the extent of its harmony and embrace with the discourse of ideas.
The study proves the emergence of the issue of faith-based belonging and its manifestations in the national struggle to achieve freedom of the homeland, and the making of its glory, as well as the determinants of artistic formation distributed over the poetic lexicon, styles and intertextuality that come together to prove the artistic honesty in the two texts.
