Abstract

Given the increasing importance of the human rights agenda in light of contemporary changes occurring in various countries, especially developing and some Arab countries, this study aims to explore the role of applying governance principles in enhancing democracy through the promotion and respect for human rights. The study also seeks to understand how these principles play a role in activating Egypt's National Strategy for Human Rights during the period from 2021 to 2026, which aims to promote all human rights in Egypt, including civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights. Governance concepts emerged in the early 1990s in several international reports and forums, which highlighted key principles and mechanisms designed to address poor governance in developing countries, often lacking efficiency and effectiveness in implementing and managing public policies.
The study adopts a scientific approach, utilizing a descriptive methodology to present theoretical concepts related to governance. It also sheds light on the key challenges facing the human rights agenda within the framework of the National Human Rights Strategy, emphasizing the need for effective, transparent institutions that are accountable and operate under the rule of law. These principles are crucial for enhancing democracy and contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals, in line with Egypt's Vision 2030
